Does Google adjust its search results to the season?
Back
There is currently a lot of discussion about whether Google adjusts the search results (SERP - Search Engine Results Page) according to the season. Many people see changes in the December search results compared to those shown outside the buying season. They think that by the end of the year, Google will show e-commerce-related search results more prominently because more people are buying. A broad search term like 'bicycle' would typically return the 'Wikipedia' page explaining what a bicycle is, but bicycle shops are in the top positions by the end of the year.
When the buying season ends, the old situation will be restored, and bicycle shops will regain their 'real' ranking (position). However, this claim has no hard evidence beyond what people have experimented with. Therefore, whether Google temporarily adjusts its search results remains to be seen.
